Jennifer Lopez Heartbroken by Ben Affleck Split: “It’s Hit Her Hard”
Jennifer Lopez is grappling with deep disappointment and sadness following her recent divorce filing from Ben Affleck. The singer, who submitted divorce papers on August 20, is reportedly struggling to come to terms with the end of their relationship, particularly given Affleck's role in pushing for their reconciliation.
Lopez, 55, filed for divorce without legal representation in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Official documents list their separation date as April 26. Despite her preference not to end their two-year marriage, legal experts suggest that her swift move to finalize the divorce indicates a desire to close this chapter and move on with her life.
According to sources, Lopez is feeling uneasy in the couple's lavish $60 million Beverly Hills home, which they bought together in May. The property, intended for their blended family, now feels overwhelming and filled with painful memories for Lopez.
While Lopez has remained out of the public eye since the split was announced, Affleck has been spotted around Los Angeles. Friends of Lopez describe her as “relieved” to have taken this step, revealing that it has been incredibly tough for her to deal with Affleck's decision to distance himself and move forward.
Despite her pain, Lopez reportedly did not want to end the marriage, holding out hope for resolution. “Jennifer is not the type to just give up,” a source shared. “It’s been almost torture for her to wait around.”
Lopez and Affleck reignited their romance in 2021, after ending their engagement in the early 2000s. However, their renewed relationship faltered, and they separated in Las Vegas in July 2022, just ahead of their planned wedding celebration in Georgia. The couple, who do not have children together, had blended their families from previous marriages—Lopez with her 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, and Affleck with his three children from his marriage to Jennifer Garner.
